Jojoba beads
Jojoba beads are made from jojoba “esters,” which are like tiny spheres of hydrogenated jojoba oil — essentially oil pearls. They contain no microplastics and are highly resistant to oxidation. They are emollient, meaning they exfoliate while lubricating the skin, without being too harsh.
Apricot seeds
These seeds are small grains that give the scrub a physical exfoliating effect. They are also plastic-free. Because they are granular, they are moderately abrasive on the skin, helping remove dead skin cells.
Almond oil
Almond oil is known for its high oleic acid content, which makes it deeply calming and hydrating. It also has epithelializing properties, meaning it helps rejuvenate and regenerate skin after wounds or cuts. This is especially valuable when exfoliating cracked, dry lips: while the exfoliating agents lift away flakes, this oil helps heal and build a new layer of skin.
Organic shea butter
Another friend of fatty acids, shea butter is packed with them and with vitamins. It is ideal for softening skin and reducing inflammation and redness. It is also a collagen booster, thanks to chemical compounds (triterpenes, if you want to look them up) that help prevent collagen breakdown.
Hemp oil
Hemp is one of the fastest-growing plants, alongside bamboo. It is grown mainly for medicinal or industrial uses and has barely any psychoactive properties. Hemp oil is obtained from hemp seeds and is rich in oleic acids (omega-9), linoleic acids (omega-3 and 6), and vitamins. It reduces inflammation, restores the skin barrier, and helps retain moisture — especially important on exfoliated lips, so a fresh new layer of soft skin can appear.
Sacha inchi
Sacha inchi is a plant native to South America and the Caribbean. It produces a fruit grown mainly for its large seeds. The oil used in the scrub is made from these seeds, which are rich in protein, fiber, antioxidants, and lipids (omega-3 and 6). The lipids help balance the skin’s oil production and clear congested pores — both useful for easing and preventing acne. Its antioxidants protect against pollution and UV rays. The oil is also antimicrobial and very calming.
